Air Drummers Unite: Freedrum Is Here To Make Kit-Less Drumming A Reality

In order to help circumvent drumming’s unfortunate yet commonly obnoxious traits (noisy, expensive, takes up too much space) an inventor named August Bering has come up with Freedrum – the first-ever virtual drumkit that fits inside your pocket.

Essentially removing the need of having a drumkit and helping your on-the-go practice session become more efficient, Freedrum is a pair of small-sized motion-sensitive sensors that simply slip over your favorite pair of drumsticks. Once the smart sensors are applied, you can then sync the device to your mobile phone and begin playing anywhere.

Pretty much, instead of imaging that you’re hitting the snare and hi-hat while banging on your surroundings, Freedrum matches up with your hand movements and allows you to actually play as if you were behind a real kit. And not to mention, taking things a step further, Freedrum also includes foot straps to replicate your basic kick drum.

While the product is still being funded via Kickstarter, there’s no denying that once Freedrum becomes available to the public, drummers all across the world will be lining up for the chance to get their Travis Barker on without disrupting their neighbors or spending a fortune.
