Besides prepping for one of the bigger tours of the fall with the Wonder Years, State Champs and You Blew It!, alt-rock vets Motion City Soundtrack are also gearing up for the release of their sixth studio album, Panic Stations.

And, with the release right around the corner (September 18 via Epitaph Records), the Minnesota based act has just released a brand new music video for their lead single, “Lose Control.”

Directed by Dan Huiting (Bon Iver, Night Beds), the video is centered around Motion City frontman Justin Pierre and his newfound superpower.

“When I first heard ‘Lose Control,’ I thought of a sort of 'super hero’ origin story where a person learns they have a superpower,” explained Huiting. “Only for Justin, he learns he can kill things that he touches.”

The director continued to add further explanation for the video stating, “We also thought it would be cool to incorporate a woman that he meets that can reverse all the things he’s killed. Some of the narrative elements are a bit opaque because we didn’t want to just explain everything. It was really nice to collaborate with Justin on this, who has a really good sensibility about filmmaking in general.”
