Like most of us out there, New York outfit Sylar was pretty shaken up by the news of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington passing away. Doing their best to pay tribute to their fallen hero and help stand up against mental illness, Sylar has decided to share their emotional cover of Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory track, “Points of Authority.”
“Several months back during some recording sessions, we recorded a cover of Linkin Park’s ‘Points of Authority’ for fun,” wrote the band on their Facebook page. “[Linkin Park was] maybe our biggest influence in terms of how we are as a band and today we’re releasing that cover to pay tribute to our hero, Chester Bennington. We’re also going to be donating 100% of the net proceeds to an amazing organization called NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). If you need help, you are NOT alone. Seek help, and talk to someone. Last but not least, be there for each other.”
