Weird Wednesday: 1/14/15

Dudes and dudettes, welcome back to another magically delicious day of all things weird! As always, we have a great jam-packed lineup for you that we’re sure you’re just going to love, love, love!

Now, if you’re new to this, let us explain: By “weird” we simply mean we’ll be featuring a few tracks you metalcore kids might not usually listen to. Why is that you ask? Well, that’s because the songs below do not have any breakdowns, screams or whatever the hell this is. We know it sounds scary, but please just trust us on this one.

That said, be sure to check out what’s below and let us know on Twitter @thenoise which songs you liked the most.

Enjoy and we’ll see you next week!

Heart Attack Man - “Undoubtedly”

With a little throwback to the 90’s alternative scene, “Undoubtedly” by Heart Attack Man is a very solid middle-of-the-week jam. You know that jam where you can flip it on, sit back in your work chair and just chill for a bit? Yeah, well, it kind of hits us just like that. Anyways, out of Cleveland, OH, Heart Attack Man (who may or may not be named after this Beastie Boys track) is getting ready to hit the road with Epitaph Records’ newly signed act, The Sidekicks. Which, if you’re wondering, could very well be the big break this act needs. So, in anticipation of what could be a very big year for HAM (please no Kayne “H.A.M" references), check here for more music.

Captain Squeegee - “Inevitable”

From the sweaty streets of Tempe, AZ, Captain Squeegee (formally known as Captain Squeegee and the Soap Suds) is quite possibly Arizona’s next breakout act. Drawing similarities to Thank You Scientist and possibly even Circa Survive just a tad, what’s not to love about this former ska act? We mean, c’mon: claymation, aliens and a horn section all in one music video? What more could you ask for? Oh, and did we mention they also have a web series based on lucid dreaming? Yeah, we weren’t fooling around calling these guys Arizona’s next big thing. For more, be sure to listen to their latest release To The Bardos here.

Fort Hope - “New Life”

With Anberlin calling it quits last year, a lot of desperate listeners around the globe are now hopelessly searching for that next new band to fill the void. Now, before jumping to any conclusions, we are by no means labeling Fort Hope as the next Anberlin. However, after listening to their impressive 2014 release, Courage, it’s pretty tough not to draw that comparison. To hear the album for yourself, you can check it out on iTunes here.

Blitz Kids - “Perfect”

Signed to Red Bull Records, Blitz Kids is very slowly starting to build a name for themselves here in the US. With their teenage friendly form of alt/pop rock, these gentleman from across the pond could very well fit in with the likes of Rise Records’ newcomers Alive Like Me or even bigger acts like The Maine and Forever The Sickest Kids. Whether you are into that style of music or not, there is no denying that these guys have potential. To hear their latest release The Good Youth, head here.

Beautiful Bodies - “Invincible”

Keeping with today’s theme of featuring upcoming pop rock acts, let’s move on to Beautiful Bodies. Signed to Epitaph Records and playing this year’s Van’s Warped Tour, many folks around “the scene” are expecting big things from these Missouri natives - especially with this very song being picked up by the Kansas City Royals during their World Series run. So, that said, sit back and try your damnedest not to get “I don’t give a damn about running with the in-crowd" stuck in your head.
