Just a couple months after wrapping up their successful run of tour dates with Dance Gavin Dance and Slaves, A Lot Like Birds has surprised fans by announcing that co-vocalist Kurt Travis will no longer be in the band.
“Today we announce publicly that we have parted ways with our vocalist Kurt Travis,” the Sacramento outfit wrote on their Facebook page. “We are eternally grateful for and proud of everything Kurt has contributed to our band in the years since his induction, but it is time for both of us to move on and we wish him the best with his solo career (Kurt Travis) and his label Esque Records.”
The band continued to add, “On April 11th A Lot Like Birds will be entering the studio to record our fourth and most ambitious album to date. On which our singer Cory Lockwood will be expressing the lyrical heart of our band in more melodic means, alongside our bassist/singer Matt Coate. We are extremely proud to share the personal and artistic growth we have achieved over the years since the release of No Place. We would like every fan to know that they are loved and their support is forever appreciated.”
As for Travis, the former Dance Gavin Dance vocalist took to Twitter saying, “Thank you everyone for you [sic] support, I have so many messages asking if I am ok and I am, thank you. I left ALLB of my own accord although it was not a clean break, and I’ll have answers soon. Thank you once again for your support.”
A Lot Like Birds will be on tour with Hail The Sun, Stolas and The Ongoing Concept later this year. For tickets, head here.
