Prior to the start of their current headlining tour, The Wonder Years and Motion City Soundtrack revealed they had an incredibly unique 7″ split in the works.
Before the release of their latest albums No Closer To Heaven and Panic Stations, similar to a hip-hop mixtape where artists rap on other’s beats, the Wonder Years and Motion City Soundtrack traded instrumental versions of “A Song For Pasty Cline” and “It’s A Pleasure To Meet You” and gave their frontmen the challenge of coming up with new lyrics and melodies.
While the physical releases of this split sold out instantly, today’s the opportunity for those who missed out to hear the pair of reworked tracks in full. After giving both “It’s (Sort of) A Pleasure To Meet You” and “(Sort of) A Song For Patsy Cline” a listen, be sure to check out both Dan “Soupy” Campbell and Justin Pierre discuss the writing process for each other’s song below.
