With artists like Kayzo, Marshmello, Excision and REZZ consistently crossing over into the hard rock space collaborating with the likes of Atreyu, A Day To Remember, I Prevail and more, it was only a matter of time until an EDM act decided to sign with a well-known, rock-leaning label.
Today, Hopeless records – home to Neck Deep, New Found Glory, Bayside and more – have officially announced the signing of breakout EDM artist Sullivan King.
Amassing millions of streams with his bass-thumping electronic hits, the artist otherwise known as Keaton Prescott is ready to take on his newest endeavor and show off his love for heavy music.
To coincide with today’s announcement, Prescott and Hopeless Records have dropped a brand new collaboration with none other than Underoath’s Aaron Gillespie.
Commenting on the track titled “Dark Love,” the mad scientist that is Sullivan King said, “Honestly this entire record is a dream come true for what I’ve wanted to create sonically. Working with someone like Aaron on a track that embodies everything I love about heavy music, vocally and instrumentally, and getting to release it with such an absolute legendary record label, just proves that there aren’t any limitations for how far we can go with the crossover of EDM and hard rock/metal. I really can’t wait to start playing this live and to see how much more this sound evolves in 2021.”
As for Gillespie, he adds, “Working with Sullivan King is great ‘cause he hears electronic music in such a musical and cool way. The vocal[s] and the real drums make it feel so different. He was just so open to let me do my thing to his song. So so so fun.”
