If You Don’t Know, Now You Know: Sworn In

Listening to Sworn In is definitely the closest thing you’ll get to encountering a real-life nightmare. With haunting echoes and hums crawling throughout their latest release The Death Card, this rabid riff-driven album filled with death-ridden lyrics transplants listeners to a dark and morbid place most people would rather not experience- not us, though.

Out of Grayslake, Illinois, this five-piece hardcore/metalcore outfit has been on the top of our most-listened-to acts for quite some time. Whether it’s the intense and in-your-face “Dead Soul,” the down-tuned gnar-fest “Death” or the chaos-inducing “Mindless,” Sworn In’s ability to blend sheer aggression with some terrifyingly grim subject matter has left us mesmerized.

“Shoot me fucking dead,” shouts the frenzied frontman Tyler Dennen on Sworn In’s breakdown-heavy track, “Snake Eyes.” “I’ll let my eyes roll back into my head, wishing I was dead, wishing I was dead,” he continues. “So take your necklace off and put a fucking noose in its place,” Dennen howls in Sworn In’s ear-splitting song, “Hypocrisy.” These are the kind of lyrics, as sensible human beings, you would think we’d try to avoid. That being said, we must not be as sensible as we thought because we cannot get enough of them.

All in all, the madness and anarchy their music creates combined with the fear and terror their lyrics produce makes Sworn In one of the bands we cannot wait to breakout in 2015. To see these rowdy gents live, be sure to pick up tickets to the Monster Outbreak Tour with Attila, Crown the Empire and Like Moths to Flames. Also, do yourself a favor and go buy The Death Card.
