No stranger to releasing some of the most thought-provoking and emotional songs around, Kansas City three-piece Listener has just revealed plans to put out some new music via four separate and exclusive 7-inch releases.
Starting with Being Empty : Being Filled Volume I, which will be released later this month, the band will continue to churn out new 7-inches throughout the year leading up to the release of their new album.
In addition to the new music news, Listener has also decided to release a brand new single titled “There’s Money In The Walls.”
“‘There’s Money in the Walls’ is about Rudolph Diesel, the guy who invented the Diesel engine,” says drummer Kris Rochelle. “Dan [Smith, frontman] and I sat on my couch and wrote the bulk of this song a week before we left for a U.S. tour last year. Once we got home to finish it, three months had passed and the idea of how much time Diesel spent away from his family and loved ones for his work really hit home.”
Rochelle went on to explain the band’s new music video for the track saying, “I think [Diesel’s story] sort of soaked itself into Dan’s lyrics and we decided we wanted the video to reflect how, in Listener, we always try and take time to make a home for ourselves on the road. The lake house in the video is our friend’s. We stay there with him and cook and have a fire whenever we’re up that way. It just seemed natural to be surrounded by loved ones if we were going to make a video for that song.”
