It should come as no surprise but as you’re reading this, yes, you are in fact getting a little bit older. No need to fear, though, as this is a natural and normal (albeit scary) part of life.

To help calm your nerves, we’ve brought in experts on the matter – the SoCal alt-emo outfit fittingly named, Getting Old.

Providing upbeat energetic vibes similar to the likes of Chumped, Cayetana, and Diet Cig, the fresh new trio is teaming up with The Noise to stream their debut EP Just Fine all about – you guessed it – getting old.

“We’re a band made of three close and like-minded friends who came together because music keeps us sane and we like to help other people,” explains vocalist/guitarist Phoebe Johnson. “We chose Getting Old originally as a joke but then it stuck because, honestly, it’s an incredible name and it’s true.”

As for their infectious four-track EP, which officially hits streaming services this Friday, the soft-spoken singer states, “Kory [Adams, bassist] noticed that I have a habit of repeating phrases in my lyrics, kind of like a mantra to myself, and ‘just fine’ is one of those scattered throughout everything I write. The songs dive into aspects of mental health and I’ve always tried to find strength in the moments when anxiety or depression feels most prominent.”

“Again,” she says, “it’s kind of a written mantra reminding myself that it’ll only make me more appreciative of good days, this doesn’t define me, and I’ll be just fine. Also, being able to say ‘we’re getting old and doing just fine’ was too funny to pass up.”
