With countless playlists, streaming services, social media sites and never-ending algorithms bombarding listeners all across the world, it almost feels like a second job trying to discover new artists.

Yes, technically, there are more opportunities to find your next favorite band but with so many platforms to explore, who has the time to wade through ad-filled websites and endless new song compilations hoping to find their next musical obsession?

That’s where we come in. Clearing out the clutter and all the bullshit too, today The Noise is giving you an exclusive look at one of your next favorite bands: Academy Killer.

Out of Hamilton, Ontario, the Canadian four-piece is a pop-punk-driven, power-pop-obsessed act combining the likes of The All-American Rejects and All Time Low.

Showing off these influences and more on their latest seven-track EP Lost In Make Believe, it’s clear Academy Killer is a soon-to-be force in the alternative music space.

Talking about the vibes heard throughout their energetic EP which hits stores this Friday, vocalist/guitarist Kevin Dean said: “I think we’ve taken a bit of a risk with Lost in Make Believe by making a record that doesn’t necessarily fit one particular genre identity. We as individuals are complex and who we are isn’t so black and white.”

Dean went on to add, “By writing from pure emotion and not keeping that ‘pop-punk’ label in mind, a record with many sides and sounds has come to life and we couldn’t be more excited to show the world who we really are and what we’re doing. We hope people can connect with the songs and the messages we share."
