As you’re probably well aware, a lot of interesting things have come out of this current quarantine stint – live performances in empty venues, unlikely music covers, endless tiger memes, etc.

Adding to that list of impressive content is grunge-influenced act Superbloom and their new spacey four-track EP aptly titled Quarantine Dream.

Teaming up with The Noise to show off their new acoustic Nirvana-esque effort, the New York act gives you the perfect soundtrack to float off and forget about all the insanity going on in the world today.

Talking about the recent release created during coronavirus concerns, guitarist Tim Choate said, “We’re based in Brooklyn and have been staying indoors for about a month now. We’ve been adjusting to our new normals and part of that has been living without seeing each other and practicing every week. So we’ve been doing some writing, recording and sending ideas around.”

“Our singer Dave [Hoon] came out of nowhere with seven acoustic tracks he recorded from his spare bedroom,” he said. “Our bassist Brian [DiMeglio] mixed and mastered four of them and we packaged them up with a title we’ve been using for our home recordings lately: Quarantine Dream.”

Choate elaborated on the title saying, “The name is an obvious nod to one of the greatest albums of all time but the idea also speaks to the dreamy, bare and melancholy vibe of the songs channeling Sparklehorse, Iron & Wine and Elliott Smith. The photo from the cover was taken by our drummer Matteo [Dix] after a hazy night at the Korean BBQ place next to our practice space. That was last time we all hung out before all this craziness.”

Continuing where Choate left off, Hoon spoke about the inspiration behind the songs stating, “I’ve been keeping busy demoing the final group of songs for our album but this past weekend I hit some bad writers block with lyrics. So with no pulse on new material, these tracks sort of came out of the boredom and the need to have a complete thought. The guitars are pretty simple. I’m currently missing the B string and can’t go out to get a new pack.”
