Let’s go back in time for a second: It’s the year 2000, we’re well past the fear of Y2K, you’re watching TRL and host Carson Daly introduces you to a new hard rock band known as Linkin Park.

Little did you know then, over the course of 20 years, that young upstart band was going to single-handedly change not only the landscape of rock but also hip-hop music forever.

Now in the year 2020, with their 12x multi-platinum debut album Hybrid Theory hitting the big 2-0, artists have been showing their love for the record (and the late Chester Bennington) by releasing renditions of tracks like “Crawling,” “One Step Closer” and more.

Adding to that impressive list of covers is St Louis rapper Retro Champ and his brand new version of “A Place For My Head” featuring Isaac Etter of This Is Falling.

Discussing the idea behind the new cover as well as his appreciation for Linkin Park, the emerging lyricist said, “With the 20 year anniversary for Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory coming soon I wanted to do something special for it. I grew up listening to Linkin Park. They really inspired me when I was coming up.”

Champ added, “Making this track was a team effort. The track was produced by J.T. Ibanez and Isaac Etter. Isaac Etter not only sings on the track, he programmed and recorded all the instruments for it. The final touches came from veteran producer, James Paul Wisner (Underoath, Paramore, Hands Like Houses). James really brought the track to life with an amazing mix. The video was [also] filmed by J.T. Ibanez.”
