It should be no secret at this point, as we prepare for what will be the ninth month of the global pandemic, 2020 has officially taken its tole on everyone’s mental health.

On top of that, with possibly one of the most important US elections nearing soon, it seems like there’s no escaping the non-stop, negative gush of political talk.

With both subjects weighing heavily on everyone’s minds, Los Angeles noisemakers The Lungs took it upon themselves to construct a jarring, noisy and pissed off record to not only dissect the two topics but also provide a little hope.

Reflecting on their new 11-track, Every Time I Die-like LP Psychic Tombs, the band says, “This album basically covers two subjects: mental health and religion/politics being used as an instrument of deceit. In this year of 2020 both seem to go hand in hand better than they ever have before.”

“Musically,” they add, “we wanted to get as heavy as possible but also get very melodic and anthemic. One thing we wanted to make sure of is that the album oozes passion and intensity. We believe that is conveyed in the first few seconds of the record.”

Lastly, leaving listeners with a sense of much-needed promise, the trio stated, “It’s important for people to know that they’re not alone, and they alone have control over their own destiny.”
