Generally, when it comes to celebrating the release of new music, it’s pretty customary to release a music video to support it. For DIY pop-punk act Behind The Façade, they decided to take things a little bit further.
To coincide with the release of their new three-track EP Honey – which was just released this morning – the New York act created a brand new six-and-a-half-minute double-feature video for their singles “Stay (Leave)” and “Sweet Tooth.”
Talking about the idea to combine two songs into one video, vocalist/guitarist Danielle Minch said, “The music video was such a treat to create. I work in video editing, so my friend Joe Marte & I (we call ourselves Bonded Tooth Productions) came up with a narrative that would encompass two of the songs and become more of a film. We wanted a storyline that was not obviously acting out the lyrics but made sense at the same time and also something that captured the fun, goofy nature of the band and our relationships with each other. We did everything ourselves from pre-production to post-production. We’re extremely proud of the end result.”
As for their new exploratory EP which features a mixture of infectious pop-punk and head-jarring post-hardcore, Minch commented, “Honey is a collection of three songs that embody the spirit of the band; we like to (sub)genre hop, experiment and create something that’s really true to however we’re feeling in that moment. The biggest example of this experimentation is the track titled ‘Magic 8 Ball.’ We’ve been super inspired by math/prog-rock bands of late and hope that starts to show more in our future work.”
Minch added, “We recorded at The Barber Shop Studios in New Jersey (Boston Manor was recording their new album in the room next door!) with Gary Cioni engineering and producing. Rick King of King Sound Studio did an amazing job mixing and was such a pleasure to work with. Lastly, the Grammy-nominated Mike Kalajian of Rogue Planet Mastering put the cherry on top by mastering the songs.”
