FUCKIN’ SLAYERRRRRRR!

If we had to sum up what it was like to see Slayer one last time as they bid farewell after one of the most successful careers not only in metal but music in general, it would be that phrase right there.

Numerous times throughout the evening as we attended Slayer’s farewell show in Phoenix, Arizona we were met with diehard metalheads chanting out this beloved war cry. Whether it was in line at will call – you know, before any band had even stepped foot on stage – or as the legendary act walked out to a crowd of over 13,000 screaming headbangers, the vibe was still the same: “FUCKIN’ SLAYERRRR!”

Ripping into a raging 20-song set featuring songs like “Gemini” and “Temptation” which haven’t been played live in years, Tom Araya, Kerry King, Gary Holt and Paul Bostaph pulled out all the stops absolutely destroying showgoers with scorching, pit-inducing riffage and endless amounts of pyrotechnics that would impress even Satan himself.

On a night which also featured bloodthirsty and barbaric performances from the iconic names of Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth and Lamb Of God, fans in attendance were treated to easily one of the best nights in recent metal history.

For a glimpse into the madness that was sadly Slayer’s final Arizona show, be sure to look below at some up close and personal shots from Noise contributors Yeshua Flores and Julius Aguilar. Afterward, make sure to grab tickets to the remaining dates of Slayer’s final world tour here

Oh, and one last time: FUCKIN’ SLAYERRRR!!!
