Well, we can’t say we saw this one coming. In an interesting announcement this week, it has been announced that longtime New York record label Razor & Tie – home to bands like The Pretty Reckless and All The Remains and formerly Attila and Chiodos – will become an imprint subsidiary of Fearless Records.
“We are thrilled to bring Razor & Tie into the Fearless fold,” says Fearless Records founder and president Bob Becker. “The label brings with it its own legacy within the hard rock world and we’re excited to apply our creative marketing and digital strategy to the legacy the brand has already created. Alongside Fearless’ roster, we’re proud to be bringing new energy into rock, helping usher in a new era for the genre."
For those still scratching their heads about the two labels working together, Razor & Tie was bought out by Concord Music earlier this year. Concord Music also owns Fearless Records. So, what do you get when you have two similar labels under the same umbrella? You put them together, that’s what.
Now for any Fearless or Razor & Tie fans freaking out thinking your favorite label is about to sell out or turn into something it’s not, don’t fear (no pun intended) as these kinds of mergers happen all the time and should only help both companies expand and reach new audiences. Of course, we can’t promise that the two labels will remain the way you fell for them in the first place. But hey, let’s try and remain optimistic.
