Taking Back Sunday Release Title Track Off Forthcoming Album ‘Tidal Wave’

While currently out rekindling the emo/screamo era alongside Dashboard Confessional, Saosin and more as a part of the newly revamped Taste Of Chaos tour, longtime scene staples Taking Back Sunday have just announced their next full-length album Tidal Wave.

Set to be released September 16 on Hopeless Records, Tidal Wave will mark the band’s seventh LP in their impressive catalog and their follow up to 2014′s Happiness Is.

For those curious about where this new record will take the band musically, according to frontman Adam Lazzara, it’s certainly not going to be another emo album.

“Look, in my mind every album anyone’s ever written is an emo album because there’s a lot of emotion that goes into all of that. You can’t listen to ‘Hey Jude’ and tell me that’s not an emo song. I don’t like being pigeonholed because I think there’s more to it than that. I think this record highlights that very well, so no I wouldn’t consider it an emo record in the traditional sense of the word.”

So, what does Taking Back Sunday have in store for listeners in 2016? How about a “more Americana feel” as stated by Lazzara in a recent chat with Entertainment Weekly.

“With our first records, we’re writing from the perspective of 17, 18-year-old kids and now it’s like as you grow older the blinders get pulled back and you have a different way of looking at the world around you.”

Now, for the all Tell All Your Friends diehards out there hopelessly holding onto the mid 2000s, there’s no need to fret as the band’s new single – which they’ve been playing live for a while now – is a fun, up-beat almost Ramones-meets-Gaslight Anthem track that may even make the most emo person grin.
