Whether you’re Red or Blue, a Donkey or an Elephant, can we all agree creating a political punk band to support a presidential candidate is pretty rad? Yes, of course there are the Rise Against and Anti-Flag-type bands of the world spreading their government-based opinions to the masses, we get that. But a band solely created to help raise awareness about a particular candidate? That’s cool… unless they support Trump that is.
Anyways, all jokes aside, punk do-it-yourselfer Allison Weiss has announced a new band with her touring guitarist Peter Recine and drummer Will Noon of fun. Called Bern Unit, the Bernie Sanders-themed band is doing what they know best to help see the lovable 74-year-old Vermont senator make his way into the White House. And by “what they know best,” we mean create a Ramones cover song entitled “Bernie is a Punk.”
