After weeks spent touring together back in 2019 on their Noise Presents run, for the very first time, longtime friends DE’WAYNE and Waterparks frontman Awsten Knight have teamed up for a brand new collaboration.
Coming in the form of DE’WAYNE’s infectious new single “PERFUME,” the two Houston natives can be heard serving up their fresh take on alt-pop music.
Commenting on the track, which was written about a past love interest, DE’WAYNE shares, “I never ever write love songs but this is one and it’s about my high school lady.”
“You ever love someone so much you hate them,” he asks. “This is my ode to her and if she hears it, I honestly hope she sings along. Even though falling in love can be the total opposite of beautiful, if you start to fall for someone go super hard!”
As for working with the eccentric Waterparks member, DE’WAYNE notes, “It was a dream come true. I send Awsten everything I work on and this was the song that he felt was gonna go crazy! So I asked him to jump on it and I got a verse back a week later!”
