It’s not every day you get to ride in an elevator with one of your favorite bands. The likeliness of being at the right place at the right time and catching them as they descend down the lift is probably slim to none.
So if that’s the case, what are the chances of actually seeing your favorite band as they perform in an elevator?
Well for This Wild Life’s new music video, the acoustic duo traveled to our office and treated unsuspecting passengers to an elevator ride they’ll never forget.
Complete with sunflowers, sparkling cider and a performance of their brand new chilled-out single “You Changed Everything,” for their DIY video shoot, Kevin Jordan and Anthony Del Grosso took a stab at creating their own version of elevator music.
“When we’re writing songs outside of an album, we like to explore arrangements and styles since we don’t have to worry about the context of a record,” explains Jordan. “In the studio, we decided this song could really use a full arrangement of jazz instruments like standup bass, piano and a beautiful horn section. We showed this song to a handful of people and got the following descriptions: ‘Sounds like an emo Burt Bacharach.’ ‘This would be the theme song for a millennial reboot of Mr. Rogers’ and ‘TWL does elevator music.’”
“We took that last description to heart and leaned into it to create this video concept,” added Jordan. “Thanks to The Noise, we got to set up our cameras in their downtown LA office and get suited up to play for workers in the elevator as they left the building. Three hours straight of soft rock.”
