Look, break-ups suck. There’s no better way to put it. Simply, other than your longtime pet passing away, we’re pretty sure break-ups might be the worst thing in the entire world.
Thankfully though, there’s a cure for it. It isn’t even anything crazy either. It’s music. (Yeah, wild concept, we know.) Pretty much, something as simple as a few lyrics and a nice chord progression might just be the perfect remedy to a broken heart. Of course, we realize most you probably knew this already, but it doesn’t hurt to refresh your memory a little bit.
Now, what drew us to writing about one of the world’s worst pains? The band Bayside and their brand new, heart-wrenching single “Pretty Vacant.”
Written by frontman Anthony Raneri about his recent divorce, the track and new music video, as you can expect, is pretty emotional.
“The song ‘Pretty Vacant’ perfectly sums up the lyrical theme of [Bayside’s new album Vacancy] and we really wanted the video to do the same,“ says Raneri. “We wanted the video to tell the story of someone having the life that they thought they knew disappear. [In the video, the actress] struggles to gain control of or at least slow down the process of losing her identity but fate is literally dragging her pasts out the door and making it disappear into thin air and there is nothing that she can do about it.”
To check out the new video, feel free to grab a box of tissues and watch the clip below. Afterwards, make sure to not only pre-order Vacancy but also grab tickets to see Bayside out on tour with The Menzingers and Sorority Noise here.
