Bye Bye Mr. Merch Guy (or Ms. Merch Gal): There’s A Machine Trying To Take Over How You Buy Band Merch At Shows

Well now, this is interesting. In an attempt to help make selling band merchandise on tour an easier (and possibly cheaper) process, a company named Merch Roadie has created a machine to replace merch guys and/or merch girls.

Essentially a portable tour-friendly vending machine, The Merch Roadie allows bands (and/or venues) to stock the device each and every night with band gear to help increase sales and create an easier process for customers.

“The Merch Roadie brings ease and automation to live event merchandise,” reads the online product description. “Use The Merch Roadie as a primary or additional location to scale merch sales. When you bring your Merch Roadie on tour or use one at a partner venue, no longer do you need to worry about hiring a seller, advancing, settling, paying out the venue or handling customer disputes. We handle it for you, included with the Merch Roadie.”

While the machine is still seemingly in talks of being used in the live music world, the new technology does bring up an interesting thought of finding new ways to sell merch on tour.
