Going out on tour can be a pretty stressful thing when it comes to what you should pack. Do you bring extra socks and plain tees? How about headphones and a laptop? Just in case you’ve never been out on the road, we asked a couple tour savvy musicians to share their essentials when packing for the Vans Warped Tour.
After checking out what Raad Soudani of progressive metal outfit Volumes and Jess Brown of power pop quartet The Summer Set have in their bags, make sure to pick up tickets to see them both out on the Vans Warped Tour here. And, if you’ve yet to scoop up The Summer Set’s Stories For Monday or purchased Volumes’ new single “Feels Good,” you can do so here.
Raad Soudani - Volumes
No surprise here: Volumes bassist Raad Soudani, like his fellow Los Angeles based bandmates, is all about looking as fresh as possible out on Warped Tour. Let’s take a look at what he’s got in his bag.
First and foremost, what I got in my bag are a few pairs of Jordans. I always gotta be rolling around Warped Tour with the freshest kicks.
Next thing, the cell phone. How else am I gonna call Mark Okubo [guitarist, Veil Of Maya] and tell him that he owes me money for beating him in Cee-Lo three times in a row.
Also always gotta have a snow cone handy. Cause who doesn’t like snow cones?
I always got my gold chain and watch on. Just so whatever I’m wearing is no-matter-what more expensive then whatever the next person is wearing.
And last but not least, my computer to make the most banging hits on planet earth.
Jess Bowen - The Summer Set
While The Summer Set has yet to meet up with the Warped Tour as they don’t hop on the summer festival until July 30th, let’s take a look at the always prepared Jess Bowen and see what she’s got in her bag.
The first (and most important in my opinion) necessity that I always have packed in my bag for Warped Tour is a good pair of sunglasses.
I always pack my hat case for Warped Tour too. You can never have too many hats. And since I’m usually too lazy to ever do my hair, I just throw on one of these guys. Problem solved.
Next, I pretty much only wear cutoff t-shirts on Warped since it’s scorching hot every single day. This is just one of the many that I have packed in my bag. I usually also acquire a bunch more on the tour from friends’ bands too.
For the days when it gets rainy, a pair of long socks help keep that mud off your legs. And obviously long socks that have puppies on them are even better!
Lastly, when I warm up before a show, I ALWAYS have a playlist to pump me up. So, you’ll pretty much always find a good pair of headphones packed in my bag.
